Coaching at The Magnolia Therapy Centre, Nottingham

What is coaching?

Coaching is a process where a coach supports you to make a change, learn something new or achieve specific skills and goals, often at work.  A key belief that underpins coaching is that we already have the answers we need within us. A coach’s role is to help you find these answers. This is done through a number of conversational techniques including questioning, active listening, observation and reflecting back.

When these techniques are used, you gain greater self-awareness and often an insight you hadn’t seen previously. Having a non-biased, non-judgmental person available to provide focused attention can give you the opportunity to better assess strengths and weaknesses and gives you space to understand how to develop areas and move forward.   If you’re feeling lost or unsure about something, coaching can provide clarity, direction, and focus

Some coaches will use NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) techniques in their work, and some will use tools such as journaling and meditation to support the conversational work.   To ensure progress is being made, coaching often focuses on goal setting. You will typically be encouraged to create a list of action points following a session, so you know what steps are needed to keep moving forward.

Coaching is a skilled activity, which should be delivered by people who are trained to do so.

Coaches aren’t required to have mental health training, and therefore may not be able to help with specific conditions. Coaches can, however, be a great support for your overall wellbeing aspirations, helping you manage stress and move forward in life.

If you want to improve skills in one area, a life coach can be a good option. But if you want to change deep-seated beliefs and heal past trauma, a therapist might be a better option for you.

Sindy Kaur : Support through life transitions, burnout, and personal growth

Sometimes life looks “fine” on the outside, but inside something feels off.

You may be feeling overwhelmed, disconnected from yourself, emotionally drained, stuck at a crossroads, or questioning what you really want next. Maybe you’ve been through a major life or career change, are navigating redundancy or divorce, or are just exhausted from holding everything together for everyone else.

Many people today are also struggling with burnout — feeling constantly tired, anxious, unmotivated, emotionally flat, unable to switch off, or no longer feeling like themselves. I’ve been there myself.

I offer a supportive, non-judgemental space to press pause, reflect, and reconnect with yourself underneath the pressure, expectations, and roles you’ve been carrying.

About Me

I qualified as a life coach in 2005 after leaving the corporate world, and since then I’ve worked with people from many different backgrounds and walks of life through both the corporate and charity sectors, as well as through my own coaching practice.

My approach is warm, honest, non-judgmental, and gently challenging when needed. I understand how quickly life can change, and how easy it can be to lose ourselves beneath pressure, responsibility, burnout, or major life transitions.

Sometimes we just need space to think, feel heard, reconnect with ourselves, and work out what comes next.

If you’d like to explore things in a supportive and confidential space, you’re welcome to book a one-off session, or a free introductory call to find out more.

Lindsey Shepherd: Grief Coaching & General Life Coaching

Grief Before Loss Service
Anticipatory grief is the profound emotional pain experienced prior to a loss, often brought about by a loved one’s diagnosis of a terminal illness, dementia, or end-of-life transition. You may feel deep sorrow, confusion, physical exhaustion, or struggle to function while supporting others. These responses are valid and speak of the depth of your love.

This service offers a safe, confidential, nurturing space to explore emotions, develop a self-care plan, receive grief education, and access healing therapies. You’ll also be supported in navigating difficult conversations and moments leading up to your loss, helping you find strength, clarity, and balance during this tender time.
